IV Mexican Conference on Critical Thinking in Health and Health Sovereignty
The “ IV Mexican Conference on Critical Thinking in Health and Health Sovereignty ” will take place from August 24 to 28, 2026, from 09:30 to 18:00 hours, with the facilities of three of the University Centers of the University of Guadalajara as venues.
There will be workshops and discussions with invited study groups and institutions, and participation from critical academia, government, and social and grassroots movements. This is the first School of Critical Thinking in Public Health in Mexico.

Thematic axes and objectives
-The conference aims to bring together critical academics, government teams, and social movements to discuss and research the following topics:
-Refounding of health systems: Analysis of the reforms and transformations of public and institutional health models in Mexico and the region to move towards universal models.
-Decolonial, Black and Community Feminisms: Addressing Gender Inequalities, Racism and Territorial Knowledge in Health Care from the Global South.
-Critical epidemiology and socio-environmental health: Discussion on how development and extractivism models impact territories and the epidemiological profiles of communities.
-Overcoming Pan-American healthism: Critical review of Eurocentric frameworks or "neoliberal global health" to propose a matrix of health sovereignty of our own.
