IV Conference of the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas
La Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CLAA) organized the IV Conference of the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the AmericasThe conference, held on October 21 at the University of Monterrey, Mexico, brought together experts, academics, and human rights advocates to discuss the real impacts of threats, legal and political approaches in the region, and how anti-science sentiment affects research and public life. The discussion began with the premise that, in times of growing authoritarianism, polarization, and disinformation, universities must remain spaces for critical research, debate, and the defense of democracy. However, academic freedom faces increasing threats throughout the Americas.

Comparative research and critical thinking workshop
Within the framework of the program “Strengthening comparative research and critical thinking within the framework of academic freedom in the Americas”, the Workshop for the extension and dissemination of research results from the Program teams was held on Monday, October 20, at the University of Monterrey. Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and the Coalition for Academic Freedom in the Americas (CLAA), «Strengthening comparative research and critical thinking within the framework of academic freedom in the AmericasThe closing session was led by Pablo VommaroExecutive Director of CLACSO, and Camilla Croso, Director of CLAA.
Representatives from the seven research teams along with Camilla Croso, Director of CLAA; Pablo Vommaro, Executive Director of CLACSO; Rafael Ibarra Garza, from the University of Monterrey; and Jack Mayerhofer, from Scholars at Risk (SAR).
