Invitation to the "First Meeting on Research in Science, Technology and Innovation Policies in Argentina, Latin America and the Caribbean"
CLACSO-FOLEC is pleased to invite the scientific and academic community to the «First meeting on Research in Science, Technology and Innovation Policies in Argentina, Latin America and the Caribbean", which will be held on November 14th and 15th, 2024 in the Autonomous City of Buenos AiresThis event is organized by the Ibero-American Center for Research in Science, Technology and Innovation (CIICTI), the Workers' Innovation Center (CITRA-UMET) and the Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (FOLEC-CLACSO), with the aim of bringing together specialists from various disciplines to reflect on scientific and technological policies in our region.
Science and technology are fundamental pillars of sustainable well-being in modern societies. They enrich the cultural heritage of nations, strengthen civic culture, stimulate innovation, and generate skills to solve socio-environmental problems. Innovation in science and technology is essential for economic and social development, as it allows us to face contemporary challenges and move toward sustainable and equitable development. This meeting seeks to promote and strengthen the study of science, technology, and innovation policies, fostering academic exchange and regional cooperation.
During the event, key topics such as Science and Technology policies and Innovation will be addressed. Papers must be submitted under one of the following categories: thematic axes (not exhaustive) and addressing cases from Latin America and the Caribbean:
- Science, technology and innovation policies.
- Technological change, innovation and development.
- Institutionalization and financing of Science and Technology.
- Science and technology management models.
- Science policies in strategic areas for development.
- Future agendas/debts and challenges of the systems.
- Scientific policies, systems and experiences of scientific evaluation of trajectories, projects and institutions.
- Science policies, scientific information infrastructures and indicators from the Open Science paradigm.
- Science policies, inclusion, gender and diversity.
Science policies and multilingualism.
The program will include workshops and plenary sessions led by invited experts, creating a space for debate and interdisciplinary collaboration.
