Invitation to participate in the Second Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation - FOLEC, within the framework of the III Open Forum of Sciences of Latin America and the Caribbean - CILAC Buenos Aires 2021

Organized by: National Council for Scientific and Technical Research of Argentina (CONICET) and Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).

Working format: 3 thematic panels, led by international and regional experts, and authorities from national science and technology organizations specializing in the subject matter, to be held Tuesday 27/4, from 9 to 11 am and 4 to 6:30 pm and Wednesday 28/4 from 4 to 6:30 pm (Uruguay/Argentina).

El II Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC), organized by the National Council for Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET, Argentina) and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), as a parallel event within the framework of III Open Forum of Sciences Latin America and the Caribbean, CILAC 2020 It falls under the Science Policy axis of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Over two days of work, the initiative seeks to strengthen the exchange and coordination between researchers, policymakers and civil society, in order to improve public policies and seeks to substantially transform evaluation practices in the countries of the region.

The event features three panels with the participation of international and Latin American specialists in science assessment, representatives from regional journal portals and institutional digital repositories, along with policymakers and authorities involved in the design and implementation of assessment policies. The first panel addresses the “National scientific information systems and the contribution of institutional repositories and CRISs to the design of evaluation indicators"; the second one addresses the “Evaluation of scientific publications. National experiences in journal ranking and contributions from regional repositories” and in the third one the following are explored “National experiences promoting the social relevance, inclusiveness and orientation towards sustainable development goals of research from the Global South.” Multi-stakeholders from the government sector, the scientific community, and civil society are invited to participate in order to establish points of agreement to build and enhance regional evaluation instruments and move towards exchanges and consensus that commit the scientific systems of different countries to the proposed transformations.
