Exchange of experiences in poverty reduction

Exchange of experiences in poverty reduction

“No to Poverty” is one of the main goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and is also a shared task for humanity. Significant progress has been made in joint efforts to reduce poverty worldwide, yet we still face many challenges. As the world’s largest developing country, China has long been committed to fighting poverty for the well-being of its people and to improving the global poverty eradication process. As a result, this year China will lift all its rural residents living below the current poverty line out of poverty. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on global poverty reduction efforts. There is an urgent call for the international community to work together and build consensus to carry forward this difficult task. In this regard, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in collaboration with China Media Group, the China Development Bank and the China International Center for Poverty Reduction, is organizing an International Online Forum on the Exchange of Experiences in Poverty Reduction on December 14 and 15, 2020.

Following the plenary session on December 15, there will be a thematic forum on "International Poverty Reduction: Strategy and Practice" on December 16 in three parallel sessions on "Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development", "Poverty Reduction in China: Path and Experience" and "International Cooperation for Poverty Reduction".

Within the framework of the Forum, Karina Batthyány, Executive Secretary of CLACSO, will preside over the third thematic session on "International Cooperation for Poverty Reduction" on Tuesday, December 15, at 9:30 (GMT).
