CLACSO Working Group on Intellectuals and Politics
Latin America is experiencing a dynamic period, fraught with social, political, and economic uncertainties. While, on the one hand, processes linked to the regeneration of political projects on the right can be identified, on the other hand, widespread social mobilizations and economic difficulties stemming from a crisis-ridden accumulation model foreshadow conflict and a struggle over societal projects. These struggles also have facets related to the production of ideas and knowledge, the old and new agents involved in this work such as intellectuals and think tanks, the restrictions and constraints on democracies that may arise from this, or, alternatively, the opening of new horizons of social possibilities that can likewise be built and emerge. This book attempts to address some of the many questions that arise from these not always visible tensions in the struggles of ideas, representations of society, imaginaries, and perspectives that Latin America faces in its urgent need to rethink its future and recreate more democratic and emancipatory solutions.
