Regional integration and Latin American unity

El CLACSO Working Group on Regional Integration and Latin American UnityIt is an initiative that emerged more than 10 years ago with the intention of contributing to the theoretical and political debate.

The role of academia and research centers has been crucial in incorporating a more comprehensive and critical perspective into these processes. Currently, it has 47 member researchers from 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

For this stage, we have set out to further investigate national, subregional, and regional realities within a more uncertain global context. We also aim to strengthen the theoretical debate on Latin America and the Caribbean with a view to building alternatives to the crisis of regional integration.

We will focus on analyzing the current situation in Latin America and the Caribbean, considering the implications of the global economic crisis and increased competition. Furthermore, we will promote the visibility of best practices and South-South Cooperation initiatives in the region at a global level.

Until now, the work of our Working Group has primarily resulted in the publication of books and journal articles. However, in the last period, we have promoted the publication of newsletters with the active participation of member researchers and external researchers.
