Integrating research assessment reform into regional open science policy in higher education institutions: a joint webinar by LIBSENSE and DORA
The webinar will address the concept and fundamentals of responsible research evaluation from a unique African perspective.
This workshop will lay the foundation for further dialogue on establishing quality assurance and integrity standards in African research practice, with open science as the guiding principle.
The objectives of this seminar are:
- To spread awareness of what responsible research evaluation is and why it is important.
- Identify which research outcomes are currently valued or should be valued in the African context.
- To help promote and support the second LIBSENSE regional policy development workshop, which will take place as a pre-event to the upcoming WACREN 2022 conference.
- To contribute ideas and stimulate dialogue on the establishment of an African initiative to:
1) Coordinate the exchange of knowledge on regional research evaluation practices
2) Identify what "responsible research evaluation" looks like in the African context
3) Provide a common organizational entity across Africa to help maintain the momentum of reforming research evaluation practices.
