III Colloquium on Care, Rights and Inequalities
From April 14 to 16, the III International Colloquium of the Project was held at the University of São Paulo, Brazil. “Who cares? Rebuilding care in a post-pandemic world” by the Brazilian Center for Analysis and Planning (CEBRAP).
In that context, on the second day of the event, the Executive Director of CLACSO, Karina Batthyány, delivered the main lecture "Latin American perspectives on care: Conceptual horizons and political challenges".
In his speech, Karina Batthyány She referred to the care policies developed in Latin America and the Caribbean and maintained that "the most successful cases we have in the region share a common denominator which is the active participation of civil society, in a broad sense, in the formulation, implementation and control or monitoring of care policies or programs - hopefully one day comprehensive systems."
For three days, the Colloquium brought together national and international experts to discuss various issues related to healthcare work, including:
- The voices of the workers
- Paid care work
- Institutional care
- Digital platforms and care
- Right to assistance
- Public policies for care
- Care systems in Latin America
- In the face of invisibilities
- New perspectives on care
- Care and collective action
