 Tool 1: CRIS systems, their potential to make visible diverse forms of knowledge production and promote new evaluation methods

The Latin American Forum on Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC) of CLACSO launches the new series of documents “TOWARDS THE TRANSFORMATION OF SCIENCE EVALUATION IN LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN. TOOLS TO PROMOTE NEW EVALUATION POLICIES”

The documents will be addressed to authorities of national science and technology organizations; members of evaluation committees in universities and science and technology organizations; CLACSO member centers; the international community that works in these fields and with which CLACSO maintains relations (DORA, ACSS, ISC, GRC, ENRHSS, among others).

These are propositional documents, intended to intervene in processes of reflection and change in evaluation systems, including systematization of experiences, concrete proposals of good practices and providing tools to generate new actions in evaluative practice.

The first document in the series focuses on Information Systems in Science and Technology: CRIS (Centers for Research and Innovation in Science), their advantages for evaluating academic trajectories and careers, and the need to incorporate gender classifications, consider bibliodiversity, and address the plurality of research profiles. The series continues with the following topics:

– peer review, a look from journals, books and repositories in Latin America and the Caribbean and from the international Open Science movement and recommendations;

-Bibliodiversity and multilingualism in the region aim to enhance the value of university publishing; public communication of science, translation policies and promote bilingual journals and books.

– and finally, the revaluation of national journals: the existing classification systems and the proposals for indicators of national publication to guide agendas towards local development objectives.
