“We need to generate new ideas”

The forum “Cuba in Revolution: 60 Years of Transformations,” held on October 21 in Havana, provided an ideal setting for a broad debate of ideas and proposals regarding the current situation in our region and the world. Organized by CLACSO as part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the revolutionary triumph on the Caribbean island, the event included the participation of José Fernández de Cossío Rodríguez, professor at the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), among many others, who spoke to CLACSO TV.

José Fernández de Cossío Rodríguez was proud that the Cuban people had demonstrated “to have the capacity for unity and to defend their autonomous right to choose their path towards a more just society” and stressed that “Bringing together so many people from different backgrounds at the Forum to discuss fundamental issues of development, ecology, and the environment is essential.”

Finally, regarding the current global situation, he emphasized that “We need to generate new ideas. We cannot continue to accept the reproduction of old, failed formulas like neoliberalism.”
