The first thirty days of Abelardo de la Espriella 's administration , which began on August 7, mark the start of a complete reversal in Colombia's socio-political direction. Following the end of the progressive era under Gustavo Petro and Francia Márquez, the rise to power of a punitive far-right figure has meant the accelerated reactivation of the "iron fist" doctrine and the restoration of the neoliberal-authoritarian model in the country.
