We believe the main merit of this edited volume lies in its ability to think about Latin America from a Latin American perspective, without falling into methodological nationalism or theoretical dependency. By recovering the intellectual roots of the field and proposing a situated perspective, it contributes to the decolonization of knowledge and the construction of a pluralistic, critical, and engaged Latin American epistemology. However, it also underscores the challenges to be faced: the effective articulation between disciplines, overcoming institutional asymmetries, and the need to construct regional narratives that do not obscure internal differences. In this sense, it does not offer answers. From the Introduction.
