Anti-racism and Afro-descendants in the Global South

El CLACSO Working Group Anti-racism and Afro-descendants in the Global South Its central objective is to produce and articulate critical knowledge that understands racism as a constitutive structure of contemporary societies, and not as a marginal phenomenon.

From a perspective that integrates black radicalism, black Marxism and critical race theory, the GT seeks to analyze the historical and current forms of racialization in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in relation to work, citizenship, territory and access to rights.

It is also proposed to strengthen a situated anti-racist research field, capable of influencing both the academic debate and the design of public policies and the dispute of meanings in the public space.

The Working Group also promotes the decolonization of knowledge, recognizing Afro-descendant thought as a fundamental contribution to global social theory. Within this framework, it aims to highlight the historical and contemporary resistance of Afro-descendant populations, as well as to contribute to building emancipatory horizons that articulate racial, social, and epistemic justice.
