Globalizing hope
This book, co-published with Ecosur, tells the story of how agroecological farmers have defended their land and territory, expelling corporate agribusiness and transforming the desert into true agroecological oases. These are geographies of hope where peasant agroecology is practiced and lived for life itself—a dignified, vibrant, and loving life for human beings and all forms of life with which we coexist on Mother Earth.
The agroecological farmers of northern Mozambique work every day to produce food amidst two deserts. One, caused by the aridification resulting from climate change, and the other, by the advance of agribusiness monoculture.
How has agroecology become a tool for resisting the advance of agribusiness while simultaneously restoring soils, diversifying crops, and creating oases of life? How did the process of peasant solidarity and internationalism develop, leading to the widespread adoption of agroecology as a production model, a tool for resistance, and a way of life? How did the Farmer-to-Farmer methodology reach Mozambique and transform landscapes, people, communities, and the peasant organization itself?
