Strengthening the CLACSO Network in Colombia

The presence in Colombia of members of the CLACSO Executive Secretariat, a delegation headed by its Executive Director Karina Batthyány to move forward with preparations for what will be the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences #CLACSO2025 In Bogotá in June 2025, it provided a framework for fruitful meetings and exchanges with representatives of universities, academics, and members of social organizations.

The newly appointed Rector of the National University of Colombia, Leopoldo Múnera RuizHe hosted a meeting that was attended by Carolina Jimenez, Vice-Rector of the Bogotá campus of the university and member of the CLACSO Steering Committee; Pablo VommaroAcademic Secretary; and Gustavo Lema, Director of Communication and Information.
The CLACSO delegation was also received by Lilia Solano Ramírez, the new Director General of the Victims Unit of Colombia, by Gloria García ParraRegional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at OXFAM, and by Alejandra Jaramillo Morales, coordinator of the Human Sciences Mission and vice dean of Research and Extension of the Faculty of Human Sciences of the National University of Colombia, with whom it was possible to advance in common projects.

Pablo Vommaro, in turn, held a meeting with Higinio Obispo González, Secretary General Advisor of the National Indigenous Organization of Colombia (ONIC) and with part of the work team of the Indigenous University of the Embera Nation.

Previously, Karina Batthyány had participated, on Monday, July 22, in the Forum “Care policies and systems: experiences from Latin America"at EAFIT University in Medellín, who, in her speech, among other concepts, emphasized that "today the issue of care has become part of the public agenda mainly due to the impetus of feminisms and women's movements, who find there the critical crux of gender inequality."
