International Forum “Climate and Care”

The International Forum " Climate and Care " is taking place at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) from August 31 to September 2, promoted by CLACSO , UNAM and the " Climate and Care Initiative " (ICC) coordinated by the Avina Foundation . It addresses the intersection between the climate crisis and the care crisis from a feminist, territorial and rights-based approach.
As a closing event, on Tuesday, September 2nd, the " Climate and Care Meeting: Experiences from the Global South " will take place (9:30 a.m. to 18:00 p.m., CISAN-CEIICH auditorium, Coyoacán, Mexico City).
The activity is being carried out by CLACSO , “ Trenzando Cuidados ” (Weaving Care), and the “ Global Care Alliance ,” with the support of the International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC) and UNAM. It also includes the participation of the “ Climate and Care Initiative ” (ICC), coordinated by the “ Avina Foundation .”
This forum opens a space for exchange between community organizations, academia, government institutions and international organizations interested in strengthening the link between care and climate policy in Mexico.
During the day there will be:
• A panel of international experiences on climate and care, with the participation of research centers, universities, and civil society organizations from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia.
• A presentation of the research advances of the Mexico Node.
• Collaborative workshops with social organizations in Mexico City, Puebla and Veracruz.
• A plurilateral dialogue table on gender policies, care and climate change, with the participation of government entities.
