Academic program

The Doctorate in Economic Development at the National University of Quilmes proposes a postgraduate program that can become an academic and specialized reference in the in-depth analysis of the problems and debates of Economic Development and aims to train researchers and technical professionals of excellence, oriented towards scientific research activities and the formulation and management of specific policies and programs.

General objectives
• To train researchers who master the theoretical and empirical foundations of different social and economic disciplines, so that they can develop a multidisciplinary approach.
• To train researchers who can contribute to the dissemination of thought on Economic Development and its ongoing recreation and updating.
• To contribute to the production of academic knowledge and to train researchers capable of developing original applied and empirical research on various problems of Economic Development, in conjunction with different disciplines and related topics.
• To train high-level technical staff with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to develop planning, management and evaluation activities of policies, strategies and actions aimed at promoting Economic Development at the local, regional and national levels.
• To promote interdisciplinary exchange among researchers in the field of Development, recovering debates and lessons from thinking about Economic Development and providing an academic and professional update based on new multidisciplinary knowledge in this area.

Specific objectives
• To offer a course scheme that promotes excellent theoretical training for the acquisition, development and practice of skills for research in Economic Development.
• To invite professors and researchers from other academic and university centers in the country and abroad with recognized experience and production to teach courses and seminars, in order to complement and enrich the UNQ's own staff and put the applicant in contact with the most relevant production and debates on Development today.
• Promote research on topics of productive, scientific and technological development, international political economy and local development and territorial management.
• To promote research and the strengthening of research groups by facilitating interaction mechanisms between researchers, teachers and students.
• Optimize training processes by ensuring the functioning of continuous evaluation mechanisms.
• To link the graduate with a Latin American and developing world network committed to reflection and research on Economic Development.
Upon completion of the curriculum, students will have acquired knowledge for the correct formulation of problems and research procedures in topics related to Economic Development.

Upon completion of the program, the doctoral graduate will be able to:
• Demonstrate knowledge in the different areas of the core curriculum, in the chosen orientation, and in interdisciplinary approaches.
• Develop skills and abilities to:
- Formulate and carry out research projects.
- Produce research work reports.
- To contribute to the production of scientific knowledge.
- To provide technical and scientific advice that can be transferred and applied to strengthen technocracies at the national, regional and international levels.
- Participate in interdisciplinary research projects.
- To participate in the formulation and advising of community action projects and public policies.
- To contribute to cultural and social development
Admission Requirements:
Those who meet any of the following conditions may aspire to the title of Doctor of the National University of Quilmes:
Be a university graduate with a final degree title issued by a National University, Provincial University or Private University recognized by the National Executive Branch, corresponding to a career with at least four (4) years of duration;

-Graduates from foreign universities recognized by the competent authorities in their country, subject to prior evaluation of their studies by the Doctoral Academic Committee in all cases. The admission of the candidate does not in any case imply the validation of the degree title;
-Accredit completed tertiary studies of four (4) or more years duration with a final degree issued by an institution recognized by the competent educational authority, in which case the Academic Commission may determine the performance of complementary activities in order to ensure that their training is compatible with the requirements of the postgraduate program to which they aspire.
-A candidate will be considered a Doctoral student if they meet the requirements mentioned above, have been admitted by the Academic Commission, and have also enrolled.

Step 1: Wait for the registration period to close.
Step 2: Receive the results of the academic evaluation process via email.

“Newly admitted applicants will receive the registration form which they must complete and send to the Administrative Management Department with any observations made in due course.”

Step 3: Cancel the Initial Enrollment Payment
Step 4: Obtain the access data to the Virtual Campus.

The Academic Commission will carry out the evaluation process taking into account the admission criteria, documentation submitted by the applicant, and may request, in due course, other documents that it considers pertinent to resolve the possible admission.
The Postgraduate Secretariat carries out a Scholarship Program in order to enable the development of research and complete doctoral training within UNQ.
Scholarships are limited and applications are accepted until the closing date for registration in the program.
The Postgraduate Secretariat will be responsible for evaluating, establishing the order of merit, and awarding the scholarships.

Types of scholarships

Full doctoral scholarship: This implies a 100% reduction in the tuition and registration fees for doctoral programs, for full-time faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate graduates, administrative and service staff, and CONICET, CIC or ANPCyT scholarship recipients based at UNQ.
Partial scholarship for external students: This scholarship offers a reduction of up to 50% in the tuition fees for postgraduate degrees and diplomas. This scholarship does not include a discount on registration fees.

Tuition scholarships do not cover registration fees. They are awarded annually, and students must apply for renewal if they wish to continue receiving the benefit. See "tuition scholarship regulations."
