Academic program

Modern rationality created an image of man as a self-knowing subject. Meanwhile, the currents of aesthetic thought stemming from the works of Nietzsche and Warburg, as well as Benjamin, Freud, Bataille, Deleuze, and Foucault, among others, deconstruct that image and, in line with the most unsettling artistic expressions of the 20th century, allow us to understand how our ways of perceiving and conceiving the world have been transformed, and from there to pose questions for which there may be no answers, but which we cannot avoid.

Objective

• To train researchers, teachers and professionals capable of producing new knowledge by articulating aesthetic reflection with that of other areas and knowledge of the human and social sciences, with leadership capacity for the configuration of academic communities that can respond to contemporary problems and the development of inter, multi and transdisciplinary research.
Graduates of the Doctorate in Aesthetics will be characterized as autonomous researchers, capable of proposing and executing research projects that contribute to the advancement of the aesthetic discipline, in its projection towards other areas of knowledge and in accordance with the needs and characteristics of the region and the country that can be thought about from this discipline and its approaches.
