Academic program

The aim of the MPUR is to train researchers and professionals capable of:
- To analyze and understand urban and regional problems from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, taking into account the different scales of the territory, the plurality of actors involved in development and the influence of social, economic, cultural, political and ecological forces, both at the local and global levels.
- Generate and develop analyses and development proposals that reduce inequalities and improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the city and the region through participatory and sustainable planning tools.
- To interpret the problems of urban-regional development from the perspective of cities and regions of the Global South, more specifically from the Latin American reality.
Upon completion of the master's program, the graduate will be able to:
- To teach and research on topics related to development in urban and regional contexts.
- To advise or provide consulting services on urban and regional issues.
- To lead or advise civil society organizations for the promotion of development processes and improvement of the quality of life in the city and region.
- Advise high-level officials in local, departmental or national public entities related to urban and regional development.
- Plan urban and regional development.
