Academic program
Based on advances in political studies worldwide and nationally, as well as the growing importance of specialized knowledge, the Master's in Political Studies is structured around three areas of emphasis for its students, namely:
- International Studies,
-Political Theory and Political Analysis, and
- Institutions and Public Policies.
These areas are addressed from an interdisciplinary and investigative approach that finds support in a staff of research professors and in consolidated research groups linked to the Department of Political Science and the IEPRI and recognized for their high academic level.
Objectives:
- To train analysts, researchers and teachers in techniques, methods and theories specific to political analysis, with critical independence and a multidisciplinary perspective, who can contribute new forms of interpretation and explanation of Colombian, Latin American and world society.
- To contribute to the formation of a democratic political culture.
- To participate and contribute to the public debate on domestic and international policy issues
- Formulate recommendations for the development and implementation of public policies.

The Master's Program in Political Studies is designed for professionals and graduates in the social sciences, economics, politics, and humanities, although it is open to professionals from other disciplines who have a clear interest in becoming political analysts of national and international affairs. Specifically at the National University, the Master's Program will consider proposals from final-year undergraduate students in related fields who enroll as a Graduation Option.
