Academic program

The Center for Advanced Studies in Childhood and Youth, at the University of Manizales, and the International Center for Education and Human Development (CINDE) offer a Master's Degree in Education and Human Development. This advanced training program has been approved by the Ministry of National Education, according to Resolution 1453 of May 31, 2000, and holds Qualified Registration until 2010.
This program is designed for professionals involved in various aspects of education and human and social development, including those from disciplines and professions such as psychology, social work, communications, medicine and nursing, speech therapy, gerontology, and family development, among others. It is also intended for professionals with national or regional responsibility for designing, implementing, and evaluating teacher training programs, whether at the professional or continuing education level.
This program is linked to the Doctorate in Social Sciences, Childhood and Youth, of the University of Manizales and CINDE, which means that our graduates have the possibility of partially validating the doctoral cycle, as long as they meet all the requirements of the Doctorate selection process.
Objectives:
To train researchers in the field of Education and Human Development.
- To train professionals interested in educational development, in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs and projects in the fields of education and human development, that respond to the quality of education problems that our country faces.
- To train ethical, critical and participatory professionals with a clear and interdisciplinary vision of the context, capable of creatively addressing social problems and the challenges arising from new educational policies and valuing the space of human development as a key element of the country's overall development.
With skills for research in the fields of education and human development.
With a broad and interdisciplinary vision of the conceptual foundations of education and human development.
With the ability to identify relevant problems in their context, in the fields of training of the program and to generate innovative alternative solutions in this regard.
Capable of producing articles suitable for scientific publication in journals of recognized standing.
Committed to the developments of their discipline and linked to networks that allow them to compare their work with other academic communities.
Knowledgeable about the country's educational policy, so that they can frame the innovations they propose in the field of education and human development within it.
With the ability to communicate their knowledge and manage knowledge.
Professional undergraduate degree or bachelor's degree.
Have an average of 15 hours per week available to study and attend in-person events.
Be interested in conducting research in one of the fields of study covered by the Master's program, its research groups, and their respective lines of inquiry. This interest should be made explicit during the interview.
Demonstrate proficiency in English reading comprehension through a certificate from a recognized institution. This can be demonstrated at the beginning or during the two years of the Master's program; in any case, it is a prerequisite for graduation.
