Academic program
The Doctorate in Human and Social Sciences at the Medellín Campus was created by Agreement 022 of 2009 of the University Superior Council, in order to respond to the demands and the search for solutions to regional and local problems, related to their historical configuration, multiculturalism, public policies, equity, gender, ethnicity, work, sciences and knowledge, identities, conflict and power.
This doctoral program is offered jointly by the Faculty of Humanities and Economics at the Medellín campus and the Center for Social Studies (CES) at the Bogotá campus. The flexible curriculum and academic format are designed to train researchers with an inter- and transdisciplinary perspective on relevant social issues in the country.
OBJECTIVES:
• To train high-level researchers with the ability to propose, direct and conduct research autonomously.
• To produce inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge in the area of human and social sciences.
• To lead and participate in the construction of academic communities within the university institutional sphere at the national and international levels.
• To integrate the different areas of knowledge of the human and social sciences, in order to generate particular methods and theories that constitute a contribution to knowledge and are the basis for generating policies of social impact, regardless of the context to which reference is made.

Researchers with the ability to produce new knowledge in the area of human and social sciences, qualified to lead, coordinate and develop transdisciplinary research.
• English. Accredited through one of the following options: i) certificate for a minimum level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages; ii) graduation from an undergraduate program at the National University of Colombia; iii) achieving the proficiency level required by the University through the test administered by the National Admissions Office. Foreign language certifications are valid for two years from the date of presentation.
• Research proposal including title, presentation of the topic and research question, justification, state of the art, objectives, theoretical framework, hypothesis, table of contents, timeline, sources, and bibliography. Maximum length of ten pages. Proposals must be linked to the Faculty's research groups and their areas of work.
• Interview.
• Resume in the standard format with academic, research and work-related supporting documents.
