In 1939, through the initiative of JJ González Gorrondona, Arturo Uslar Pietri, José M. Hernández Ron and Tito Gutiérrez Alfaro, the Central University of Venezuela founded the first economic studies in the country.
Since 1981, the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences has offered the Master's Degree in International Economics, in response to the growing national demand for professionals in the economic field with postgraduate training.
This program leading to the title of Master of Science in International Economics is oriented towards the particular applicability of its objectives to the case of Venezuela.
Postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences formally began in the 60s and currently this Faculty has 2 courses leading to the title of Doctor, 10 courses leading to the title of Master and 7 to the title of Specialist in different mentions.
OBJECTIVES
To train highly qualified human resources
This program is designed for the analysis of international economic relations and trade, technology, and capital flows, as well as for the design and implementation of economic strategies and policies in these fields, with particular applicability to the case of Venezuela and preparation in specific areas of interest to the student. The curriculum structure is tailored to achieve this objective based on comprehensive training in theoretical and methodological aspects, analytical skills, and research development, which is reflected in the placement of courses, the prerequisites, and the seminar system.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Economics, International Studies, Law, Political Science, Administration, Sociology and Statistics.
