Academic program

This flagship program, which began in 1961 and has now completed twenty-six editions, has produced prominent figures from diverse spheres of national life. In recent years, the dual-exit option has been adopted, allowing students to choose between Master's or Specialist degrees. Currently, the following specializations are offered: Global Planning, Local Planning and Management, and Social Policy.

OBJECTIVE:

The main objective of the Course is the training of high-level human resources with a comprehensive vision of the development process that takes place at the local level, and who are able to intervene in said process from the public or private sector.

Specific objectives:
- To train academic and professional planners who have a global vision of the structure and functioning of municipal government in a rapidly changing political, economic and social context.
- Develop the analytical capacity necessary to grasp the complexity of socio-economic problems and processes from the perspective of local planning and management.
- Develop the knowledge and skills required for the performance of the operational and strategic functions that are inherent to that level of government, taking into consideration the approaches of the different social actors.
- Develop capacities for research and teaching in local planning and management.
Graduates will be able to work in both academic and professional fields. They will share the common characteristic of managing complex situations from institutional and/or municipal perspectives, mastering the technical skills required by the corresponding planning process, and having a special interest in the socio-political aspects of local governance.
