Academic program

1) To train specialists in social anthropology, based on critical reflection on
currents and models of theoretical and methodological thought in classical anthropology and
contemporary. 2) To provide students with sufficient tools and
relevant for the integration of multidisciplinary research teams
and rigorous analysis of national problems, as well as in the search for alternatives
to confront them. The aim is that in the future they will be able to perform in positions that
require the application of anthropological knowledge to promote development
national and the contributions of anthropology to the problems of the Latin American region.
3) Introduce students to professional experience, linking them to
the work of CIESAS and its thematic and regional concerns, so that they acquire
the analytical, methodological, and technical tools that will subsequently allow them to
advance in their training as researchers.
The graduates of the doctoral program will be researchers specializing in a field
of anthropological knowledge, with the ability to perform professionally at the level
international and make original contributions in their field of knowledge. They will have

Submit an application for admission to the program in the CIESAS format, indicating the research area you wish to join (IMPORTANT: The program may close some of the research areas, depending on the number of students admitted to each one)
Letter of intent, outlining the candidate's main interests
Letter of commitment to exclusive dedication to the program
Title and certificate of the degree prior to the one you wish to pursue in Anthropology or related sciences, with a minimum average of 8.0 (in the case of foreigners, once they have been accepted they must revalidate their documents)
Two letters of recommendation from renowned researchers
Curriculum vitae (with supporting documentation)
Take a knowledge test
Attend a personal interview with the Admission and Selection Committee (subject to prior selection).
Certify reading and comprehension of texts in English, with a certificate issued by the CELE of the UNAM
In the case of applicants whose native language is not Spanish, certify their proficiency by means of a certificate issued by the CEPE of the UNAM
Copy of a recent academic work, of personal authorship (thesis, books or specialized articles)
Medical certificate of good health
Copy of: a) birth certificate b) CURP c) Proof of address d) Four passport-size photographs e) Proof of payment for admission exam fee
Foreign students admitted to the Program must present their original documents duly certified by the Mexican embassy or consulate in their country of origin
Doctorate (in addition to the above requirements): Research project for the doctoral thesis, with an anthropological perspective
