Academic program

To train social work teachers with a broad and solid preparation, capable of generating original and innovative knowledge to intervene in social problems, as well as to practice high-level teaching and introduce them to research.
To enter the Master's in Social Work program, applicants who are graduates of UNAM and other national institutions must meet the following requirements:
Hold a bachelor's degree in the area of ​​Social Sciences or Health or any other degree that is academically sufficient in the opinion of the academic committee.
Submit a preliminary research proposal on a line of research within the relevant fields of knowledge. The preliminary research proposal must include: title, problem statement, justification, objectives, hypothesis, theoretical framework, methodology, and a timeline of activities. This proposal will serve as a general outline to begin the research work; however, the project will be refined collaboratively with the main advisor in the tutorial workshop.
Adhere to the selection procedure outlined in the operational rules of the study plan.
Obtain an approval of academic sufficiency issued by the academic committee, after undergoing the selection procedure indicated in the operating rules.
Have a minimum average of 8.0 in undergraduate studies.
Submit an updated (3 years) certificate of English reading comprehension, issued by any Foreign Language Center at UNAM. To enter the Master's in Social Work program, applicants who graduated from foreign institutions must meet the following requirements:
Present a bachelor's degree in the area of ​​Social Sciences or Health Sciences or any other degree that is academically sufficient, in the opinion of the committee

Submit a preliminary research proposal on a specific line of research
encompassed within the fields of knowledge. The research proposal must include: title, problem statement, justification, objectives, hypothesis, theoretical framework, methodology, and activity schedule. This proposal will represent a general outline to begin the research work; however, the project will be refined jointly with the main advisor in the tutorial work lab.
Obtain an approval of academic sufficiency issued by the academic committee, after undergoing the selection procedure indicated in the operating rules.
Have a minimum average of 8.0 in undergraduate studies.
Please submit the original and a copy of the following duly legalized documents:
Birth certificate, documents that prove changes of name or nationality.
Title that certifies the completion of studies.
Academic transcripts detailing the subjects and grades obtained.
Documents issued abroad must be legalized by the Mexican embassy or consulate if the issuing country is not a signatory to the Hague Convention (legalization of documents). If it is, the corresponding apostille must be presented. (If the documents are not in Spanish, an original translation into Spanish by a certified translator must be presented.)
In the case of students whose native language is not Spanish, proof of sufficient knowledge of this language will be required, through a certificate issued by the Center for Teaching Foreigners (CEPE) of the UNAM.
At the time of registration, you must present documents proving your legal status in the country. If you do not have this documentation, you will have a period of no more than 90 days to present it.
Present proof of reading comprehension in a language other than your native language, issued by the Center for Teaching Foreigners (CEPE) of the UNAM.
