Academic program
The initiative to create this program is linked to the undeniable leading role that local governments currently play in the design of development policies, given the profound processes of political and economic transformation of nation-states, and the incessant demand for quality academic training by local development actors.
The National Universities of Córdoba and Villa María have set themselves the goal of creating a Postgraduate-Master's level program in Policies and Management of Local Development, convinced of the important role they have to play in the current reality of the country and the region.
For the realization of this joint undertaking, the participating Universities have delegated to the Center for Advanced Studies of the UNC and the Institute of Social Sciences of the UNVM the responsibility for the design, selection of teachers and content and the implementation of the program; fully trusting in the enormous importance that the CEA has in the postgraduate offer in the Province of Córdoba and in the firm decision of the Institute of Social Sciences to create a novel proposal of the fourth level in the important city of Villa María.
To contribute to the design of a sustainable development model by the municipalities of the country and the region, through the training of academically excellent staff who are in tune with the most modern views on the problems of local governments.
Objectives:
- To provide program participants with tools, knowledge and skills that enable them to be active protagonists in institutional strengthening and modernization processes necessary for local governments in scenarios of profound transformations and daily challenges in which they are immersed.
- To promote values such as association, cooperation and strategic thinking in the implementation of policies and instruments that consolidate the decentralization and integration processes put in place, positioning the local government as an active protagonist of change.
