Academic program

1. General

To train communication professionals with a novel and specialized profile, combining critical reading of contemporary issues with a high capacity to develop communication skills.
Expand professional and academic skills for the inquiry, understanding, production and application of knowledge in the field of narrative journalism.

2. Specific

To create a learning space that combines theory and practice in narrative journalism.
To enable students to enter a complex professional world with knowledge of current narrative and digital languages.
To promote in students a critical understanding of the public agenda and contemporary problems
To generate professionals capable of navigating the diverse formats of contemporary journalism with knowledge of the traditions in each field and effectiveness in the development of innovative communication products.
To train journalists from diverse fields of knowledge and academic backgrounds committed to journalistic rigor and the creativity necessary to face the challenges of journalism in the future.
The Master's Degree in Narrative Journalism provides its graduates with tools for professional performance on two levels. On the one hand, it equips them with the skills to narrate in their own style, thanks to a solid foundation encompassing pre-production, fieldwork, and research, as well as editing and multimedia tools. On the other hand, it offers access to up-to-date knowledge and analytical frameworks that allow them to address social, economic, and cultural processes in depth, developing a comprehensive perspective on the diversity of contemporary life.

Upon completion of the Master's program, graduates are expected to have acquired the following competencies:
- Mastery of theoretical, instrumental and practical content of various narrative techniques and theories of narrativity.
- Ability to recognize and use institutional and cultural protocols to carry out journalistic practices, with responsibility in the handling of information and training based on the values ​​of tolerance and acceptance of diversity with a critical sense.
- Ability to detect stories and narrate them with the appropriate techniques, exploiting the visual and hypermedia languages ​​of the chronicle genre.
- Ability to discover and analyze, from theoretical categories specific to the social sciences, the underlying phenomena behind the most shocking news stories.
Those who can demonstrate any of the academic situations detailed below may apply for admission to the Master's program:

a) Be graduates of Higher University Level courses (more than 4 years in duration and 2600 hours) in disciplines related to the theme of the Master's degree, such as Communication, Sociology, Education, Literature, Anthropology, Philosophy, Journalism or Arts.

b) Graduates of undergraduate programs in disciplines not mentioned in point a) whose professional practice is related to the subject matter of the Master's program. Exceptions will be considered by the Academic Committee of the program based on the applicant's background.

c) Be graduates of foreign universities that award recognized undergraduate degrees of at least four years' duration. Graduates must provide proof of having completed a course of study of at least 2600 (two thousand six hundred) clock hours or training equivalent to a European Master's level 1 qualification.

d) Persons who have graduated from non-university higher education studies of at least four years duration.

Exceptions to the required prior degree will be considered by the Academic Committee of the program based on the applicant's background, in accordance with the UNSAM Postgraduate Academic Regulations. Admission will require completion of the special admission procedure established in the current Postgraduate Regulations.
