 FOLEC will participate in the XXI International Conference on University Libraries

FOLEC-CLACSO is pleased to announce its participation in the XXI International Conference on University LibrariesThe conference, titled “Smart Libraries: The Convergence of AI and Open Data in Academic Research,” will be held from October 16 to 18, 2024. This edition will be a hybrid event, with in-person sessions at the “Dr. Jorge Carpizo MacGregor” Auditorium of the Humanities Coordination, University City, UNAM, in Mexico City, and online streaming via Zoom. The in-person sessions will take place at Circuito Maestro Mario de la Cueva s/n, University City, Coyoacán, CP 04510, Mexico City.

The event's main objectives are to review the concepts and practices of open science and open data in university libraries, as well as to explore how artificial intelligence and the semantic web can improve the management of and access to linked open data. Innovative initiatives and projects promoting open science from within libraries will also be presented, highlighting policies and strategies for their effective implementation.

La Dr. Judith Naidorf, Coordinator of the Latin American Forum for Scientific Evaluation (FOLEC) and Principal Research Professor at CONICET, has been kindly invited by the event organizers to share her presentation "Cognitive exploitation and academic extractivism: opportunities and challenges for open science and diamond publishing in Latin America and the Caribbean"Her presentation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, from 13:00 to 14:50 p.m. (Central Mexico Time), and will address the challenges and opportunities for open science in the region.
