Evaluation, publication and language policies in the dissemination of science today
On November 26 , from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. , the meeting “Evaluation, Publication, and Language Policies in the Dissemination of Science Today” will be held , organized by the Research and Innovation in Language Sciences Program (PIICL) of the Faculty of Languages at the National University of Córdoba (UNC) . The event will be held in a hybrid format , taking place in the Aula Magna of the University Campus and broadcast via Google Meet.
The speakers will be Paula García Ficarra , MA (Faculty of Languages – UNC), Matías Alcántara, BA (FOLEC-CLACSO; UBA), and Pablo von Stecher, PhD (UBA/UNAHUR – CONICET). The meeting aims to reflect on the current tensions between academic evaluation systems, scientific publication practices, and language policies that influence the circulation of knowledge.
This event aims to foster dialogue on how decisions regarding evaluation and publication affect the visibility and legitimacy of scientific output in different languages, particularly in the Latin American context. It will also address the challenges faced by institutions and scientific communities in promoting more diverse, accessible, and contextualized science.
