CLACSO Working Group on Borders, Regionalization and Globalization

In this book, we analyze various aspects of the complex process of producing Global Spaces and Specific Zones of Intense Accumulation (SZIA) for the expansion of transnational capital in the Americas. We have divided the analysis into two parts: First, the production of geographical scales and Global Spaces in global capitalism, which presents some theoretical and methodological advances in the construction of space and its realization in certain cases. Second, deep regions, reserve spaces, and special economic zones for the expansion of transnational capital, which explores the complexity of creating spaces for industrial production or extraction within Global Spaces and the intricate network of infrastructure that facilitates this process.

We hope that this text will contribute to expanding not only knowledge on the subject matter from similar yet diverse perspectives on the forms that global capitalism takes for its extensive and intensive expansion in all regions of the planet, and particularly in the American Continent, but also to provoke critical and committed reflection from those interested in this issue, whether in the academic field or in the social and political spheres of our entire America.
