Schools of dignity
The right to politics dawns in another school

Schools of Dignity is the culmination of a long research project in Argentine and Brazilian public schools, proposing a tenacious utopia in uncertain and threatening times. It aims to establish politics as a human right that unlocks other rights. It values the practices of school principals who, through hard-won autonomy, developed popular education curricula for children and adolescents from marginalized communities: the urban poor, rural communities, and Indigenous peoples in various regions of Argentina and in southern Brazil. The life stories of these protagonists reveal how these experiences were possible and provide criteria for training new generations of educators committed to expanding popular education in public schools. As a cautionary tale against repeating past mistakes, it revisits similar experiences that have been met with resistance. It suggests theoretical reflections and strategic actions that enable the emergence of grassroots actors capable of sustaining and expanding political engagement by deconstructing and problematizing unacceptable situations. Thus, he bets on the dawn of a new political culture for a new democratic protagonism.
