Conducting research, producing, and disseminating studies that highlight the structural inequalities affecting women and non-binary people is a challenge that requires questioning paradigms and deploying alternative writing strategies. Achieving greater coherence between feminist perspectives and the academic work we produce is also a challenge that must be overcome to meet academic, professional, and institutional demands.
This seminar/workshop is designed for students and graduates from various disciplines who wish to strengthen their research writing skills (reports, essays, articles, theses, etc.) using gender and feminist methodologies. It shares theoretical and practical knowledge that integrates the contributions of feminist epistemology and gender analysis, as well as addressing the specific tasks of knowledge production and dissemination. As a seminar/workshop based on gender and feminist theories, it encourages participants to approach research and the production of scientific texts in a way that is consistent with this worldview.
1. Research and knowledge production with gender and feminist approaches.
2. Gender and situated writing: the use of “gender markers” in the construction of texts. The issue of bias and objectivity.
3. Strategies for designing research and writing articles, theses, essays, reports, and others.
4. Use of inclusive and gender-sensitive language, non-binary ways of avoiding gender stereotypes in documents and publications.
5. Presentation, citation and referencing standards.
The course will be delivered online, combining synchronous and asynchronous sessions. Over the two weeks, a total of ten classes will be taught, eight of which will be live and two will be available as recordings for asynchronous viewing.
Live classes will be held via Zoom, allowing for direct interaction among participants. In addition, students will have access to exclusive materials, available in the virtual classroom, to complement the content covered in each session.
