Meeting of shared knowledge and experiences
El Latin American Council of Social Sciences and the International Development Research Center (IDRC) Canada / International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC), jointly organized the “Meeting of Shared Knowledge and Experiences"in Brasilia from April 5 to 9, to consolidate a space for dialogue between public managers, academic researchers and representatives of social movements in search of strengthening family farming and agrarian development policies in the region.
Representing CLACSO, the following participated Gloria Amézquita PuntielAcademic Director, and Sofia Torres, in charge of projects and cooperation.
The meeting was structured around the following points:
-Public Policies and Family Farming: Analysis of land access and sustainability programs in the Southern Cone.
-Food Sovereignty: Discussion on resilient food systems and the role of rural communities.
-South-South Cooperation: Strengthening the network of CLACSO member centers in Brazil and their direct link to the design of state policies.
-Memory and Territory: In line with the institutional interest in historical memory, the meeting also addresses the trajectories of struggle for land and social justice in the countryside.
With meetings like the one in Brasilia, CLACSO seeks to transform academic knowledge into applicable tools for the public management of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Farming of Brazil, especially in the context of the current socio-environmental challenges of Latin America and the Caribbean.
