"In Panama, the United States demonized alternative proposals to the neoliberal model."
The Panamanian sociologist and researcher Azael Carrera Hernández, member of the new CLACSO Steering Committee for the Central America and Mexico Region, participated in the 107th meeting of the CD of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences in Bogotá, Colombia, on November 18 and 19.
In that context, he spoke to CLACSO.tv about the reality of his country and the region, estimating that "Panama has shown itself to be quite conservative, obviously that is a product of the interference that we had and that we have from the US presence that did an ideological job demonizing the political forces that were projected as alternatives to the neoliberal system."
