In Chile, the people rejected liberalism.

Karina Oliva, Executive Director at “Chile Mobilized” and Political Advisor of the “Common Party” participated in Mexico in early February in the Conversation “Neoliberal Authoritarianism or Democratizing Democracy?: The Dispute for the Future in Latin America”, jointly organized by CLACSO and the “University Program of Studies on Democracy, Justice and Society” (PUEDJS-UNAM).

In that context, he spoke with CLACSO TV and stated, among other things, that "Today, Chilean citizens feel more involved and are the ones mobilizing towards a new constitutional change."

Karina Oliva also estimated that “the fall of real socialism led the left and progressives in Chile to resign themselves to not projecting a national project.” And I add: “We on the left cannot think that political solutions will come from the desires of the left; rather, it is popular common sense that will define the horizon, how we must move, and what our political decision should be as a political actor… It is a profound mistake to think that we are going to win a new Chile simply because the left wants it. We must learn a little from collective wisdom, popular wisdom, when they say, 'They've opened the door for us, let's go all in and win.'”
