In pursuit of improving the living conditions of the citizens

On Thursday, September 5, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) signed a collaboration and exchange agreement with the Ombudsman's Office of the City of Buenos Aires. The agreement was signed by Karina Batthyány , Executive Director of CLACSO, and María Rosa Muiños , Ombudsman of the City of Buenos Aires. Also participating in the ceremony were Pablo Gordon Daluz , Director of the Human Rights Monitor of the Ombudsman's Office of the City of Buenos Aires; Verónica Gómez , Advisor to the Ombudsman's Office of the City of Buenos Aires; and Tomás Carol Rey , as well as Gustavo Lema , Director of Communication and Information at CLACSO.

Karina Batthyány stated that “for us, the signing of this agreement is a first step in this collaboration, which is technical, methodological, and scientific, within the framework of the social sciences and humanities, our areas of expertise. I see that we share institutional objectives in terms of policy, to improve living conditions and address the needs of citizens—in the case of the Ombudsman's Office, with jurisdiction over the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires; and in our case, with a regional perspective encompassing all of Latin America and the Caribbean.” In closing, Karina Batthyány invited the Ombudsman's Office of the City of Buenos Aires to actively participate in the 10th Latin American and Caribbean Conference on Social Sciences in June 2025 in Bogotá, Colombia.

In turn, María Rosa Muiños stated that “the entire Ombudsman's team is very excited to launch this new partnership. It fulfills a concern we've held since we began our work in December 2021: the ability to translate each of the complaints and reports we handle as the Ombudsman into a comprehensive assessment of human rights in the City of Buenos Aires. This assessment can then be applied to the planning and design of public policies. Thank you very much for joining us on this journey and signing this agreement with us.”
