CLACSO Working Group on Social Security and Pension Systems
This book addresses a major problem and debate: employment, its registration, and social security; the present state of work, and the future being built upon the retired and pensioned population. It examines a series of issues that intersect with what might appear to be mere data: gender inequalities, the contractual conditions of salaried workers, the challenges of self-employment, among other topics. It also includes a general overview of the European situation and the experience of some Latin American countries that differ markedly in their societal organization (Mexico and Cuba), although the focus is on Argentina. The articles that refer to Argentina are somewhat diverse. Two of them address different aspects of the issue of work, which together provide an overview of the complexities of the employment situation and labor markets in the country. The remaining eight explore various details of the intricate mosaic that constitutes the so-called pension system.
