GT CLACSO Podcasts “Childhoods and Youth”

In this article, the CLACSO Working Group on Childhood and Youth presents reports from various members of the group to reflect on the role of the State in addressing the health, social, and political crisis triggered by the Coronavirus. The aim is to contribute to understanding the national and regional scenarios that this issue presents, viewed through the lens of state intervention (or its absence) in working with children and young people—that is, from a generational perspective.

In this way, references to programs, state actions, forms of governmentality, manifestations of state and police violence are analyzed, considering the transversal effects of the treatment that states make of this health and social crisis, paying attention to the analysis of variables such as: generational, racial/ethnic, gender and class differences in state work with the pandemic, effects and modes of (re)production of inequalities and the relationships with the construction of collectives and modes of collective organization (in support and/or in rejection of state measures).
