The Ibero-American Institute of Berlin celebrates its 90th anniversary
The Ibero-American Institute of Berlin (IAI), a member center of CLACSO, is celebrating its 90th anniversary virtually on Tuesday, October 13. An interdisciplinary institution, it fosters scientific and cultural exchange with Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, and Portugal. It houses a knowledge archive that includes the largest specialized library in Europe focused on Ibero-American culture. It is also a center for scholarly production, knowledge dissemination, and cultural development.
The IAI was founded on October 12, 1930, and since 1962 has been an institution of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation. Its unique combination of information center, research center, and cultural center makes it a platform for cooperation and a catalyst for both intercultural and transcultural dialogue.
To discuss the history and present of the Institute, CLACSO Radio interviewed its Director, Barbara Göbel.
To celebrate its 90th anniversary together, the IAI invites you to participate virtually in the ceremony on Tuesday the 13th at 6:00 PM German time (UTC+2). A recording of the event will be available afterward on the IAI's YouTube channel.
Let us recall that, at the beginning of October 2019, the Executive Secretary of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Karina Batthyany, visited the library of the Ibero-American Institute of Berlin, which houses CLACSO publications, together with Barbara Göbel.
