CLACSO's cooperation with Sun Yat-sen University in China

On October 21 , a delegation from the CLACSO Working Group "Geopolitics, Regional Integration and the World System " visited Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou, China), where they were received by authorities and teachers from the Institute of International and Regional Studies of that institution.

Those participating in the meeting included Professor Chen Jie , Dean of the Institute; Associate Professor Zhang Xinyu , Vice Dean; Associate Professor Liao Yue , from the Department of Latin American Studies; Associate Professor Daniel Morales ; Professor Chen Meiling ; and Postdoctoral Researcher Carolina Fabara.

Representatives of the CLACSO Working Group on Geopolitics, Regional Integration and the World System presented the lines of research and strategic objectives that guide their work, which focuses on the study of the transformations of the world system, the processes of regional integration and the new contemporary geopolitical configurations.

Both parties exchanged information about their respective institutions and lines of work , and engaged in an in-depth dialogue on potential areas of academic cooperation, joint research, and the training of young researchers . The meeting allowed them to establish a preliminary consensus to move forward with inter-institutional collaboration.

According to Sun Yat-sen University's official publication, the visit of the CLACSO group constitutes a boost to the expansion of the Institute's Latin American research network , strengthening its internationalization efforts and its commitment to promoting mutual understanding and coordinated development between China and Latin American countries.
