The future of evaluation and publication in open science contexts. In the ISC Global Knowledge Dialogue for Latin America and the Caribbean (ISC)

El Global knowledge dialogue (GKD) is a series of events that the ISC is carrying out in different regions of the world, which began in Africa in the World Science Forum in 2022 and continued in 2023 globally in the ISC members' midterm meeting in May in Paris, and at a regional level in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in the GKD Asia-Pacific.

The GKD for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is led by the ISC Regional Focal Point and its Liaison Committee in conjunction with ISC Paris HQ and will consist of three blocks including:

  1. The ISC in the context of a member: a discussion between ISC leadership, ISC members and members on the ISC's strategic and organizational goals for the next five years.
  2. Science in the global context: promoting diversity in science and science systems.
  3. The ISC in a regional context: A dialogue on the development of a line of work for the ISC Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean in the coming years, as well as a discussion on the future of science financing for sustainability in the region.

Within this framework, the session is organized for April 10th. "The future of evaluation and publication in open science contexts"Its objective is to understand in depth and from different perspectives the complexities derived from the peer review process in academic journals, focusing the observation and analysis on the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, and on the potential of scientific content in other Open Access publication spaces (repositories, preprints, data repositories, books), in order to support a more inclusive and bibliodiverse global ecosystem of academic communications."
