“Unbridled extractivism has an environmental and social impact.”

OXFAM Latin America, CLACSO and the School of Human Sciences of the University of Rosario in Colombia, organized from September 29 to October 1 at the University of Rosario, in Bogotá, Colombia, the event called: “Just Latin American Transitions: debates, struggles and protagonists”.

Carlos PatarroyoThe Dean of the School of Human Sciences at the University of Rosario, gave a diagnosis for CLACSO.tv of Latin America and the Caribbean, where the trend towards increased concentration of wealth, impoverishment and vulnerability of entire populations to violence and phenomena associated with climate issues is consolidating.

Held: "The transition is going to happen. The question is how we can ensure that this transition doesn't further widen the gaps in the most unequal region on the planet, which is Latin America and the Caribbean. So how can we ensure that when these transitions occur, they don't make the richest richer, the poorest poorer, or continue to harm those who are already disadvantaged? And that requires all of us to sit down and think, and to start building. And he left definitions such as that “Unbridled extractivism has an environmental and social impact” in the countries of the region.
