On October 18, 2019, Chileans opened another chapter in a long struggle they vowed to continue until dignity becomes the norm. This collective volume, which combines written word, image, and poetry, is part of an effort to document, make visible, and analyze not only the political dimensions, but also the expressive, creative, and profoundly subjective aspects of this civic, social, and democratic uprising. Its chapters comprise a polyphony of voices that take on the challenge of writing about the October 18th revolt from different perspectives and disciplinary positions. Addressing multiple expressions, ranging from the participation of young people and women, the role of social media and artivist practices, to the inclusion of a comic strip, photographs, and a book of poems that emerged in the heat of the revolt, this book stands as a genuine cultural artifact that questions the context, the political effects, and the processes of subjective transformation, both personal and collective, resulting from the uprising.
