The right to Higher Education from the Global South
From August 21 to 25, the First School “The right to higher education from the Global South: Horizons, disputes, and meanings”, organized by the Knowledge Network for the Right to Education from the Global South (REGS) made up of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), the Arab Council of Social Sciences (ACSS) and educational institutions in Africa.
The School has 50 participants from 10 countries and is organized into dialogue tables, workshops and field experiences with social organizations and public institutions in which the following lines of work are addressed: Theoretical Frameworks, knowledge production and the right to education from the Global South; Transformative and inclusive public policies and Social disputes and experiences in the constitution of the right to education in the Global South.
The opening session included the participation of the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Mozambique, Narciso Matos; the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education of Mozambique, Daniel Nivagara; the Vice-Rector of the Polytechnic University of Mozambique, Christian Macuamule and the Director of Research at CLACSO, Pablo Vommaro.
In a packed auditorium, with more than 100 people present, the Minister of MCTES, Daniel Daniel Nivagara, gave the inaugural lecture in which he discussed the central theme of the School from the experience of Mozambique.
The School has the support of the Eduardo Mondlane University of Mozambique and the participation of other Mozambican higher education institutions such as the Pedagogical University.
