The Concert of Hope will be the grand welcome to #CLACSO2025
On Sunday, June 8, in Bolívar Square in Bogotá, the “Concert of Hope: Latin American Migrants Resist"will mark the welcome of Colombian public media to the X Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences.
This artistic and cultural event, which will begin at 4:00 p.m. local time (UTC-5), will kick off #CLACSO2025, four days of critical thinking, social engagement, and transformation, from June 9 to 12 in Colombia's capital. This was announced in an interview with CLACSO.tv. Hollman Morris, manager of the Public Media System of Colombia.
The Concert of Hope will feature Colombian and international artists, solidifying its position as a musical and popular meeting point for social transformation, a culture of peace, and the defense of human rights. Spanish rock, murga, folk metal, cumbia, tropical music, rap, rasqa, and joropo are some of the musical genres that will be heard at this free concert, which will be available throughout Colombia via the television channel Señal Colombia, the radio stations Radio Nacional de Colombia and Radiónica, and also on the free streaming platform RTVCPlay.
From Spain, Mago de Oz arrives at the Concert of Hope, a legendary musical group with lyrics full of social sensitivity and known for being one of the most important and iconic of folk metal with fantastic and mythological stories.
The southern part of the continent will be represented by the historic Chilean group Inti-Illimani, with their great commitment to folk music and social protest; and by the Spanish rock of Prisioneros – Miguel Tapia with their classic direct and defiant songs, a legacy extended throughout Latin America.
Bersuit Vergarabat arrives from the southern region of America, with their famous Argentine proposal that mixes rock, cumbia, tango, murga and other Latin rhythms, so that people can enjoy their songs full of humor and sarcasm.
The Caribbean islands will be represented by Los Van Van from Cuba, one of the most important and influential orchestras in the region, with their salsa, tropical and son music.
International rap will be represented by Apache, the Venezuelan rapper recognized worldwide for his significant influence and inspiration to new generations. The Colombian contingent of this genre comes from Tibú with Motilonas RAP, Denis Cáceres and Sol Ortega, who will share their stories of resistance, female empowerment, and defense of the Catatumbo region in their lyrics. Antioquia will be represented by Alí AKA Mind, the rapper from Bogotá, whose lyrics have taken him to other continents, addressing social issues and seeking peace with raw and direct storytelling.
Other Colombian artists participating in the Concert of Hope include the Santander-based group Velandia and La Tigra, creators of the unmistakable rasqa style, an original musical language that combines socially conscious lyrics with rebellious humor connected to Colombian reality. Llanera music will also be heard in Bogotá's Plaza de Bolívar, with Joseito Oviedo, the singer-songwriter who has taken the music of his region to other continents and is a rising star of joropo on digital platforms.
With this live broadcast of audiovisual content, the Colombian Public Media System continues to strengthen its position as a global benchmark for its high-value cultural, educational, informative and entertainment products for Colombians and the entire region.
