At the same time, this book addresses the first signs of the post-progressive cycle, in which neo-coupism, the state of exception, and anti-politics emerge, as well as the rise of alternative forces.

The notion of “emancipatory critical praxis” is a powerful and creative political, theoretical, and conceptual synthesis, absolutely productive for the challenges of our time. It is so for emancipatory education and Latin American critical pedagogies because it opposes technocratic, neoliberal, and hegemonic conceptions of the educational and pedagogical field; because it recovers the transformative activity of human beings; because it vindicates the importance of building alternatives for the prefiguration of the society of the future, and therefore, nourishes utopia and hope; because it demands activating the political exercise of resistance; because it calls for the development of political action hand in hand with the oppressed, exploited, and excluded peoples, communities, and individuals; and because it is interwoven with the construction of an anti-capitalist, decolonizing, anti-patriarchal, and emancipatory historical project.
