Econonuestra: It's time for an economy for everyone.

The report was presented OXFAM Econonuestra: It's time for an economy for everyone. The document, which includes comments from Karina Batthyány y Pablo VommaroIt pauses and delves into the causes and consequences of the deepening inequalities in the lives of the Latin American and Caribbean population.

The polarization of wealth and its concentration in the hands of a few is not a matter of chance but the result of political decisions. The fact that the wealthiest 1% of the population pays proportionally less in taxes than the poorest 50% is the clearest indication of an unjust tax system that urgently needs to be reformed.

Oxfam It calls for structural change to reduce economic and social inequalities, advance climate justice, and improve women's financial autonomy. Five bold tax reforms are proposed that could raise a considerable sum to combat inequality and fund essential public policies. Furthermore, this also represents a way out of the austerity policies that have limited economic growth and social well-being in the region.

The report shares a set of concrete tax measures that would allow us to move towards fairer societies. These are tax measures aimed at the wealthiest 1% of the population and large corporations, for the benefit of the majority. This is a historic moment for the region. With Brazil holding the G20 presidency, it is time to promote the implementation of a key regional fiscal pact to eradicate extreme poverty and strengthen our fight against the climate crisis.

This is a historic moment for the region, and it's time for an economy for everyone..
