Two new books in the CLACSO-CALAS collection
We present two new volumes of the CLACSO-CALAS collection, a joint work that already has more than fifteen titles that address a wide and varied range of topics related to our region from diverse and original perspectives.
Creativity in conflict This volume explores the role of creativity both as an analytical concept and as a key factor in the social and cultural transformations that have marked various crisis contexts in the Americas. Drawing on multiple perspectives, including cultural studies, history, sociology, social anthropology, gender studies, and media studies, the articles examine different dimensions of creativity as a driver of significant social and cultural change.
Afros at the forefront: racism, resistance and struggle This book focuses on racism and resistance in Latin America and the Caribbean, and on the social and cultural movements of Afro-descendant groups in their struggle for recognition, participation, and justice. It seeks to revitalize research on Afro-descendant cultures and movements in the Americas, while underscoring the urgent need to address the pervasive racism of our times of conflict, war, and violence. The book also aims to highlight the importance of fostering dialogue between academia and activism to sustainably dismantle racism.
